Join us for a public forum on the roots of the uprising in Baltimore and how we can organize to uproot racism from U.S. society and institutions.

FEATURING: Long-time Baltimore resident Maarten Harris | Maarten, 28 years old, spent most of his life in Baltimore, and faced repeated racial profiling and brutality by the Baltimore police. He will speak about his first-hand experiences being African American in that city.

The action of the people in Baltimore and Ferguson have signaled a new phase in the centuries-long struggle against racism in America. The resurgence of Black Liberation movement via Black Lives Matter is hugely promising for the overall struggle.

If you're interested in staying involved in the movement against racism and police violence, and learning more about the struggle, come for talks and discussion on these questions and more:

  • What can this spontaneous uprisings teach us about the history, and current state, of institutional racism and white supremacy in the United States?
  • What can we do right now to support the movement in Baltimore and beyond?
  • What kind of tactics and strategy can not just win justice for Freddie Gray, but really uproot institutional racism from society?
