The workers, residents and students of the District of Columbia signing below affirm their support for the international consensus which demands the immediate end of the 59-year long unilateral, illegal, deadly blockade of Cuba by the United States. They ask the D.C. City Council to join cities and state governments around the U.S. in passing a resolution demonstrating the city’s good will toward the people of Cuba and the city’s willingness to engage with Cuba and the Cuban people in the spirit of friendship, as equals, with no preconditions in all matters of trade, travel, cultural exchange and more.

Since early 2017, the U.S. Government has alleged that U.S. diplomats and family members stationed in Havana, Cuba, have been physically harmed by acoustic attacks aimed at the U.S. embassy and other locations. U.S. authorities have refused to cooperate with some 2,000 Cuban researchers who engaged in intensive investigation of the alleged incidents.
