A very important conference — an encounter among Cuban, U.S., Mexican, Canadian, Venezuelan and other trade unionists — will take place in Tijuana, Mexico, the 10th, 11th, and 12th of December, 2004. In response to the repeated denial of entry visas to the U.S., on the part of the U.S. government, to five Cuban trade union leaders, it has been necessary to hold the conference in Tijuana.
The event will be an opportunity to exchange experiences of labor struggles and issues among the labor participants and of their respective peoples. It will also give participants the opportunity to create new ties of fraternity and concrete solidarity among workers’ organizations. The Cuban and Venezuelan trade unionists will also speak about the social and economic gains made in their countries and how the two peoples are creating an alternative model of social and economic development.
Tijuana is 15 minutes from the U.S.-Mexico border, close to San Diego. The registration cost of the conference is $45 to cover costs of the event. The hotel cost is listed separately below.
