Friday, Sept. 16 Rally with Hugo Chavez and Ricardo Alarcon

A broad coalition of organizations has announced that on September 16 there will be mass rally in New York in solidarity with Cuba and Venezuela, which will feature major addresses by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and Cuban National Assembly President Ricardo Alarcon.

September 16
Riverside Church
120th Street and Riverside Drive

Tickets to this event are free, but will only be available on a first come, first serve basis.
Email [email protected] with a name for each requested ticket.

The U.S. State Department has refused President Alarcon an entry visa to attend a meeting of the Inter- Parliamentary Union, but it is expected that Washington will be forced to issue a visa in order for him to attend the UN General Assembly sessions. Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque will also be in New York for the UN meetings. If for security reasons, President Chavez is unable to attend, it has been confirmed that veteran popular leader and Venezuelan Vice-President Jose Vicente Rangel will take his place.
