This morning, Palestinian medical sources in the Gaza Strip reported that just yesterday an infant - one-year-old Odai Samir Abu Azzoum - died in Rafah from several complications, including pneumonia.

This baby's death is a direct result of the ongoing U.S.-backed Israeli siege.

Though doctors in Gaza successfully dealt with similar cases in the past, they are no longer able to because of the lack of medical equipment caused by the siege. It was also the siege that made the infant's transfer to a hospital outside of Gaza impossible.

Also yesterday, Ribhi Jindiyeh - a 10-year-old with lymphoma - died in Gaza while waiting for Israeli permission to cross the border to attend a scheduled appointment with a specialist because the doctors in Gaza were not able to treat him for lack of medical supplies.

How many others will die before this siege comes to an end? The people of the United States must act to demand that the U.S.-backed Israeli siege of Gaza must end immediately!
