As President Obama spoke in Egypt yesterday, children in Gaza came to the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt to demand an end to the U.S.-backed Israeli siege. Just last week, the United Nations reported that 30 percent of children three-years-old and younger now suffer from anemia. The widely reported deaths of one-year-old Odai Samir Abu Azzoum and 10-year-old Ribhi Jindiyeh due to lack of medical supplies and services in Gaza are just two of many children who suffer because of the siege.
The people of Palestine are suffering, but they are strong. We can now see the political climate is shifting around the world. All over the United States, people are organizing to bring an end to the siege.
