On July 29, Arizona's racist law, SB 1070, goes into effect. SB 1070 enshrines racial profiling and immigrant bashing into law.
A wave of protest has greeted SB 1070 since it was passed in April. Hundreds of thousands of people have taken to the streets in Arizona and across the country. Economic and cultural boycotts have spread. The U.S. Conference of Mayors has called for the law's immediate repeal.
As more people speak out against SB 1070, other states are threatening similar legislation, and the very authors of SB 1070 in Arizona have pledged to pass even more racist measures targeting immigrants and working families. The racists want to strike fear into the hearts of immigrants and all people of color. They want people to stand down and accept every racist measure they throw at us. It is time to fight back!
Join the ANSWER Coalition and other community organizations and individuals at Arizona's capitol building in Phoenix for a protest the night before SB 1070 takes effect. The struggle to stop racism and for full equality is very real in Arizona. It is part of the national struggle for civil rights. Organized resistance to SB 1070 must continue!
