Washington DC, November 4, 2023 - An enormous crowd expected to number in the hundreds of thousands will be converging on Washington DC in the coming hours for the largest mobilization in US history in support of Palestine. Hundreds of buses have been organized by local community groups and progressive organizations to bring activists and people of conscience from cities across the country to join the historic march.
The over 450 organizations that have endorsed the march are calling for an immediate ceasefire, an end to all US aid to Israel, and an end to the over 16-year siege on Gaza, as Israeli bombing of Gaza continues unrelentingly.
From 12:00pm to 4:00pm at Freedom Plaza participants in the historic march will hear from representatives of endorsing organizations as well as renowned activists and public intellectuals about the complicity of the Biden administration in the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
In several instances, organizers had to overcome attempts to cancel charter buses that had been reserved to bring attendees to Washington. Despite these efforts by those hostile to the Palestinian cause, the people were not deterred from taking part in this historic day.
“This is a truly global movement involving millions of people speaking out for justice. The U.S. government has blood on its hands. But while the Biden administration speaks in our name he does not represent the views of the majority of people in this country.” said Brian Becker, Executive Director of the ANSWER Coalition.
“For the past four weeks we have witnessed the horrific slaughter of our people in Gaza by the Israeli occupation take place with complete support of the Biden administration. This massacre must end today, and we are here to ensure that Israel and its partners in genocide are held accountable,” said Yara Shoufani of the Palestinian Youth Movement.
The whole mobilization will be live-streamed on Breakthrough News: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FG1wopMb3NU.
